FAQ’s

Is it going to look natural or will it look like I am wearing makeup?

  • Lip Blushing can be done in 2 sessions to achieve a more natural “tint” look or for those who want a bold everyday lip, sometimes a 3rd session works best. If you want a natural look, that is something that is easy to achieve and is also dependent on the color that is chosen. Once your lips are healed, it won’t look like you have anything on your lips. Your lips will just have a naturally darker, bolder, or more even color than your natural lips.

I see minor imperfections in the lip shape in some of the pictures after the first session...is this a mistake?

  • No! Unlike some filter-heavy/photoshopped pictures that you may have seen while scrolling through your feed, no one’s lips are perfectly symmetrical and no one’s lip line is perfectly even. To ensure that the pigment fades naturally without any areas of patchiness, we can only make small adjustments outside of your natural shape. If your natural shape is slightly uneven, we can’t completely change it but can tweak it to make it look more even and symmetrical. These slight “imperfections” will always be more noticeable immediately following your initial session when your lip color looks darker and more defined. However, any natural imperfections will look less noticeable once healed, just as they do when you are wearing your favorite lip product!

How do I know what color to choose?

  • The color of your lip blushing is something that is decided during the consultation portion of your “initial session” appointment. We have a wide range of shades and colors. Your service provider will ask questions to narrow down the best color options for you and then swatch them on your forehead. From there, you and your provider will go over the color choices and discuss how they might turn out, based on your skin tone. The color chosen depends on your personal preference as well as your service provider’s experience and knowledge of pigments and color theory.

What will my lips look like when they are healing?

  • On the first day, after your initial session, your lips will be larger/more swollen and the color will appear very vibrant. Over the course of the healing process, your lips will start to flake and peel. Your color will fade, change, blur or disappear temporarily during the healing process. You will lose anywhere from 20-60% of color upon healing. Your lips will be dry and you may be tempted to pick at the scabs, but it is crucial that you DO NOT touch them! Picking at the scab can affect the color and the results of your service. Your service provider will also go over the healing process and aftercare guidance at your appointment.

When do I need to come back for a touch-up after getting both of my sessions done?

  • Everyone’s body naturally metabolizes pigment at a different rate. Some people can go longer and some shorter, but generally, the results from both sessions should last about 12-18 months. When you start to notice the color fading, you should schedule a “Volume Boost.” If you decide you want a bolder look, you can also schedule a “Volume Boost” sooner. For best results, follow the after-care instructions for the two weeks following your initial session and your perfecting session. This will give your lips the best & longest-lasting possible results!
